"No longer waiting for orders — solving things ourselves."
Field Story
In Zimbabwe’s Matabeleland South province, Dr Rudo Chikodzore — then Provincial Medical Director — describes the transformation she witnessed when her teams began working with the LEAD approach.
Before, critical decisions would stall for weeks waiting for approval from the national level. Teams lacked the authority, the confidence, or the space to act on what they already knew.
With LEAD, task teams began setting their own goals, diagnosing their own challenges, and solving problems within their control — with senior staff as facilitators rather than gatekeepers.
